Self-Performed Trade

Subgrade Modification

Engineered for Oklahoma soils.

Overview

Oklahoma's clays move with the weather, and a pavement is only as good as the subgrade beneath it. First Water modifies and stabilizes subgrade with lime, flyash, cement, and cement kiln dust, then proof rolls and compacts it to the geotechnical spec so the section holds up under load and through the seasons.

We treat subgrade as its own trade, not an afterthought wedged between dirt and paving, because it is the difference between a road that lasts and one that cracks in its first few winters.

A pavement is only as good as the subgrade beneath it. We build that layer like the whole road depends on it, because it does.
